On March 4, Tanzania Port Authority and China Railway branches joint venture signed the engineering and construction contract in allusion to the project, Design and Build for Construction of One Additional Berth at Mtwara Port. The total amount of contract price is 63 million U.S dollars. According to the scheme, an extra oil jetty will be constructed near Port MTWARA, which is designed for 65000DWT PANAMAX.

The joint venture who won the bidding consisted of three branches of China Railway as follows: China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group; China Railway Construction Engineering Group; China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group.

Before the bidding, CREEC has been paying much attention to the project. A specific project team made up of experienced professionals was established and began to carry out relevant research works.

As a result, the joint venture won the bidding with the most economical and optimal proposal and stood out of 25 competitors. This has become CREEC’s first oversea engineering project in 2017.
